ASME BPE

The ASME BPE Standard Committee’s objective is to provide the requirements applicable to the design of new equipment used in the bioprocessing, pharmaceutical, and personal care product industries, including aspects related to sterility and cleanability, material dimensions and tolerances, surface finish, material joining and seals.

Based on these objectives the Standard is written and maintained to provide design fundamentals, cGMP, and acceptance criteria for high purity products.

The committee consists of volunteer representatives from around the world including end-users, manufacturers, contractors, fabricators, engineering firms, and independent inspection firms, who meet three times a year to update the Standard.

Top Line actively supports the ASME BPE Standard by participating on several subcommittees and task groups, and by providing products that meet or exceed the requirements of this International Standard.

3-A Sanitary Standards

The 3-A Sanitary Standards Committee's objective is to formulate sanitary design criteria covering a single piece of equipment called a "Standard" or to formulate practices relating to sanitary process systems called "Accepted Practices".

These standards are developed through the cooperative efforts of local, state, and federal sanitarians, equipment manufacturers, and equipment end users so that they are acceptable to those involved in the sanitary aspects of the dairy and related industries.

The ultimate goal is to protect dairy products from contamination and to ensure all product contact surfaces can be mechanically cleaned or can be dismantled for manual cleaning, and, when necessary, for inspection.

The committee consists of representatives from the International Association of Milk, Food, and Environmental Sanitarians, the United States Public Health Service, and the Dairy Industry Committee (DIC). Members of the DIC include The American Butter Institute, The American Dairy Products Institute, The International Ice Cream Association, The Milk Industry Foundation, The National Cheese Institute, and The International Association of Food Industry Suppliers (IAFIS).

IAFIS - The International Association of Food Industry Suppliers

The International Association of Food Industry Suppliers (IAFIS) is an 87 year old, not-for-profit trade association of manufacturers and suppliers serving the global food industry.
